Harry Georgatos (5 out of 10 ) When I heard that brian de palma was directing mission impossible I was somewhat excited. I thought we were going to get a bloody look into the world of international spies. Instead we get a fantasy film of super spies done on a comic book level. Brian de palma was a director for hire, and was given an ordinary screenplay and made it more interesting then it should have been. This wasn't the story I was expecting. The two films fail to successfully capture the surreal illusion of deception within the methodolgy if the IMF operations that the tv series did so brilliantly. These two movies have too much exposition; then instead of being pure visual storytelling within the structure of the operations. Tom Cruise basically got two world class filmmakers in de palma and woo, and gave them these ordinary scripts; which they did a brillant job of directing dissappointing screenplays. Maybe third time lucky with MI3, that we get a truely visual cinematic experience that does not lag in unnecessary exposition; and hopefully captures the spirit of the tv series. My fingers are crossed.
Dennis (3 out of 10 ) Good Morning Mr. Phelps, or Mr. Briggs: The movie adaptations of the 1960's series SUCK! When Barbra Bain models and does chemistry she is believable, when Peter Graves does calculas and differential equations he is believable, When Greg Morris does all the impossible tasks put upon him by the "team" he shines through. Even Wally Cox was believable. Your mission should you choose to accept it is to find an ACTOR (not a performer without range) to play the lead role. Tom Cruise is not up to the intellectual standards of the series. If he is cast MI3 will bomb. My suggestions for Ethan Hunt: MattDamon, the doctor off the "Lost" series, Timothy Dalton, Kevin Spacy, Ralph Feinnes, Chris O Donnel, Brian Cox, Will Smith, Val Killmer, anyone But Tom Cruise.
natalia (8 out of 10 ) I liked the movie and, though I didn't actually see the series (I'm just 23 and, worse yet, Argentinian). I know that only the first film is just loosely based on the series. The first thing to take into account is that there had never been on "Ethan Hunt" in the real series, but Phelps was the main character. Hunt was exclusively fitted to be played by Tom Cruise and that was all. Anyway, I liked the movie all the same, and, moreover, I like him much. No matter what the hell could he do with script of his movies, I like him and that's all.
Kahlil Scruggs (10 out of 10 ) The first Mission: Impossible movie was the best. Everything about it was awesome. The theme, the characters, the Train/Tunnel sequence. What more could you ask for from M:I?
